DEVELOPMENT OF COMPETENCES IN EDUCATIONAL SCENARIOS

The development of competencies in educational settings is a widely discussed topic in the current pedagogical literature and there is a diversity of criteria about the conceptualization of the term, hence it is considered a polysemic concept. However, regardless of the diversity of definitions, there are some common elements, among which its integrating nature stands out, considering that the competence implies the interrelation of conceptual, procedural and attitudinal knowledge (knowledge, skills, abilities, skills, values and others) that allow the subject to perform in a given situation, which gives it as an added value, that of the uniqueness of each person.

From this personological perspective, competence must also be considered in its close relationship with elements of the affective sphere of the personality, such as: feelings, emotions, qualities, among others, which influence its development. On the other hand, competition is recognized for its dynamic nature, as it develops and is updated in the action itself, which links it to a context, to a given situation and facilitates interaction with reality; this very development of the competence, also favors the possibilities of the subject to act in other contexts and different situations.

The introduction of skills in school work implies new ways of teaching and learning and, consequently, new skills to be developed by teachers from a broader vision of learning that goes beyond traditional paradigms. Teachers, therefore, must master and know how to develop the skills to facilitate autonomous and significant learning processes of students at different levels and contexts, as well as the creation of effective intervention strategies in response to the new conditions required by the current information and communications society.

Precisely, the ideas expressed show the possibilities offered by this number in its MONOGRAPHIC section to present contributions that address research, innovations and experiences applied in educational practice, related to the development of basic and specific skills, attending to the learning objectives in the different educational levels and institutions.

We remind you that in this new stage of development of the journal, the RESEARCH IN EDUCATION section is added to its monographic section. This section will contain works that are unrelated to the subject of the journal and it is a possibility that is offered to authors to publish articles derived from educational research, hence, in its content the essential elements of the process cannot be missing (theoretical framework, methodology, results and discussion), as well as must comply with the structure regulated by the journal for this type of article.
