Abstract

This article addresses the issue of values as a pedagogical strategy to improve school coexistence from the educational practice of the teacher. Starting from a theoretical reflection, the problem of school coexistence due to the lack of values in the students is analyzed at a global level, both in the particular framework of the state of Colombia and the city of Barranquilla. Although education in values begins at home, the school, as a socialization environment, has the responsibility of promoting and strengthening values in order to create a healthy coexistence environment for all members of the educational community. Teachers are called to fulfill this praiseworthy task. Therefore, the article provides an opportunity to reflect and reconsider the work of the teacher as a mediator and educator in values, not only teaching by example, but through pedagogical strategies and activities that students like. This, consequently, will help to improve school coexistence, having a long-term impact on the entire educational community.
