Journal frequency

Varela Journal is published every four months, covering the issues corresponding to January-April, May-August and September-December. Starting in 2025, the journal will be incorporated into the continuous publication mode, which constitutes one of the initiatives declared in the Open Science movement, which allows the immediate availability of texts once the editorial process is completed, as well as the reduction between the reception and publication times of the articles sent to the journal.

The above respects compliance with the quarterly periodicity declared in the stages: January-April, May-August and September-December, with the difference that the issues will be completed as the review, editing and layout process of the submitted articles is completed. In this mode, the volume, number and section identification system will remain unchanged, while the pagination of the articles will be replaced by a unique electronic identifier number (elocation-id), instead of sequential pages.
