Journal frequency

Varela Journal is published quarterly, covering the months of January-April, May-August, and September-December. Starting in 2025, the journal will switch to continuous publication, which is one of the initiatives declared in the Open Science movement. This allows for the immediate availability of texts once the editorial process is complete, as well as a reduction in the time between receipt and publication of articles submitted to the journal.

This will comply with the quarterly frequency declared for the following periods: January-April, May-August, and September-December, with the difference that the issues will be completed as the review, editing, and layout process for the articles submitted is completed. In this format, the system for identifying the volume, issue, and section will remain unchanged, while the pagination of the articles will be replaced by a unique electronic identifier number (elocation-id) instead of sequential pages.
