Abstract

A not insignificant variable in the vitality of Spanish in Côte d'Ivoire has always been the pupils' clubs in schools. These are groups of volunteers of all levels, advised by teachers, as complementary spaces for learning and practicing the target language. The educational crisis resulting from the socio-political crisis, which worsened in the 2000s following the putsch of 24 December 1999, had a major impact on the creation and running of clubs throughout the country. Thanks to the birth of student clubs from 2010 onwards, and subsequently to the awakening of Spanish as Foreign Language associations in the era of the Internet and social networks, Spanish clubs are experiencing today a new springtime.
