AN RESEARCH ON THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT IN CITY OF THE PERUVIAN SIERRA

Environmental management is the responsibility of the governments, civil society and citizens of the world and it implies to face the great challenge posed by current environmental problems that, instead of diminishing, are increasingly increasing. In this context, the objective was to determine the environmental problems pending to be solved by the local government in the city of Chiquián, Bolognesi province, Ancash region, Peru, 2019. A mixed approach was used, the design corresponded to a single case study, intrinsic and evaluative. Surveys, interviews, observations and documentary review were used as data collection techniques and as instruments; questionnaire, interview guide and observation sheet, and documentary data collection sheet. It was concluded that the environmental management by the municipality has deficiencies as it has not solved environmental problems; such as, limited access of families to basic water and sewage services; environmental contamination due to inadequate management of solid and liquid waste; presence of informal mining; improper cutting of trees; deficiencies in public cleaning, conservation of streets, parks and gardens.
