Intercultural communication: a challenge for university teachers in multicultural groups

Due to the increment of cultural diversity in classrooms all over the world, teachers face a complex reality which is characterized by a growing intercultural communication that can be affected for barriers derived from cultural differences among individuals involved in the Teaching and Learning Process. This article is aimed to reflect about the importance of intercultural communication in Cuban Higher Education and about the role of teachers who work with students that are culturally diverse. Theoretical methods allowed critical analysis and interpretation about the existing information gathered for the proposal. Authors develop a synthesis of Cuban studies about the topic. Some ideas about the role of university teachers when managing intercultural communication in multicultural context are exposed.
