Abstract

This paper offers an updated compilation of two closely related components of the teaching learning process: objectives and contents. It highlights the importance of this topic, since it has been observed that in spite of the fact that there is a general agreement among the specialists in general didactics concerning the formulation of objectives, there is no complete agreement among the foreign language teachers regarding the way the objectives should be formulated while planning their lessons. The paper contains the most significant aspects related to the internal structure of the objective, its functions, as well as its systemic and multilateral nature. The paper also offers general considerations regarding the didactic component content.
