The present investigation set out to demonstrate that this problem is not directly due to technological devices, but to their misuse. Precisely because of this, mobile phones were used to promote creative writing. The methodology was framed within the quantitative approach and opted for a quasi-experimental design for its realization. To a sample of 306 students (Control group: 154 and Experimental group: 152), two tests (pre-experience and post-experience) were applied to measure the production of creative texts in university students. The evaluation took into account: theme, purpose, content, global organization, grammatical cohesion and correction of written texts. With the experimental group the use of mobile devices was applied respecting the stages of planning, textualization, correction and publication. The results showed that the use of mobile devices significantly affects the production of creative texts when comparing the results of the post-test between both groups.
