Abstract

The article addresses the relevance of the Virtual Teaching and Learning Environment (VLE) in the ongoing education of university professors at the National University of Education (UNAE). It examines key topics such as teacher empowerment, the multifaceted role of educators in the 21st century, lifelong learning, the integration of technology in higher education, and current challenges in this field. The qualitative methodology involves the active participation of 71 UNAE professors through a questionnaire with open-ended questions on Google Forms. The results underscore the importance of continuous training, collaboration, and standardization in the use of VLE. Educators perceive challenges such as creating engaging content, technology training, and promoting critical thinking over rote memorization. In conclusion, this study emphasizes the need for ongoing teacher training, collaboration, and adaptation in higher education.
