Abstract

The article shows a theoretical systematization related to motivation for learning, supported by different theories focused on human beings and their needs. Thus, theoretical reflections are presented that, from a psychological perspective, analyze the general conceptual bases of motivation, as an internal state related to a need that incites the person to action and maintains behavior. Similarly, the role of motivation in student learning in the educational setting is addressed, highlighting the use of active and participatory methodologies that make the student reflect and use the knowledge previously learned. Finally, the role of motivation in teacher training is analyzed and its importance in the act of teaching to learn, as a dynamic agent of learning to make the most of the capabilities and/or potential of each of the students and is particularized to the case of teacher training for early childhood education in the Colombian context.
