Abstract

The present article includes a reflection about qualitative research, its antecedents, main concepts, characteristics, different methods and other necessary aspects in particular about action research. This mode of qualitative research is dealt as an alternative that allows educational transformation in more participating terms aimed at clarifying the origin of problems, programmatic contents, didactic methods, significant knowledge and exchange in the teaching community. Besides, action research permits researchers to elaborate, experiment, evaluate and redefine their teaching practices by means of a process of self- criticism, cooperative reflection and the integrated analysis of means and aims; all this with the purpose of improving and increasing the level of efficiency of teachers and educative institutions.
