THE INTERCULTURAL COMPETITION: A PRESENT EXIGENCY IN THE FORMATION OF THE TOURISM PROFESSIONAL

In spite of the fact that intercultural education is key in current society in the resolution of conflicts between entities of different cultural systems and intercultural competence is one of the most demanded competences by the professional of Tourism, at present, graduates from the Bachelor in Tourism still do not have the necessary tools to become cultural intermediaries between their own culture and the cultures of the tourists and human capital that converge at the tourist entities where they work. The main objective of this work is to recognize the importance that reverts the integrated intercultural competence for the professional of Tourism as well as to stablish the theoretical and methodological guidelines for the comprehension of a new pedagogical model for the intercultural training of tis professional that allows them the formation of the integrated intercultural competence. In order to define the components of this new model an analysis of different training models for this competence was carried out, as well as the revision the most important theoretical and methodological contributions that constitute a referent of this research. The most important result is given by the conception of a competency-based model of intercultural training for the professional of Tourism that comprises different processing components proper for this type of competence.
