This works is about two relevant personalities of the latinamerican pedagogy: Simón Rodríguez and José Martí, from Venezuela and Cuba respectively. This relation becomes established taking into account determined postulates: Popular education, the formative paper of the teacher, the linkage of the study and work and the teacher like mentor of men, contextualized among endings of the XVIII century and the XIX century.
