Dichotomy of the theoretical construct formation of professional competences

Abstract

This study is result of the effort of Higher Education in the formation of professional skills for local development in Cuba. Its specific objective was to elucidate the dichotomy discovered during the bibliographic review for the construction of the theoretical construct formation of professional competences. Representative theoretical references on professional skills are systematized and the difference in the concept of competences formation in today's globalized world is conceptualized. It concludes that formation of competencies with a strong integration of essential values such as patriotism, solidarity, internationalism, environmental care and humanism achieves a professional committed to the development of the best causes in defense of humanity and who faces current neoliberal trends.
