Abstract

This article shows the results of a research carried out to identify the influence the selection of evaluation instruments has on the achievement of professional skills in newly admitted students in the Food Industries Engineering career. The objectives focused on determining the co-responsibility between students and teachers in the teaching-learning process, how evaluation influences this process and the role that feedback plays in both. The sample consisted of 44 students and 6 teachers, from the Higher Technological Institute of Ciudad Constitución (ITSCC), Baja California Sur, Mexico. It was found that students do not participate in the planning of the educational process, nor in the evaluation process, they only act as receivers and executors, as well as that, in general, feedback is not given in a timely and clear manner, which is only limited to highlighting errors; however, with the changes introduced, more than half of the students managed to reach the competencies satisfactorily.
