Abstract

This paper focuses on the treatment of emotional intelligence to improve the learning of English as a second language in a group of university students. The article presents a theoretical approach to the topic of emotional intelligence to give it a new meaning in the English classroom, and also includes the practical experience developed in this regard. This intervention was developed through three teaching strategies, the first of them through collaborative work, the second with an awareness-raising activity, and a third, recreational activities integrated into the English class, which are described in the paper. Finally, it analyzes how the implemented strategies generated a great impact on the students, getting them to commit, enjoy and learn through them, and how their emotional intelligence intervened in each of the activities to achieve valuable learning.
