This article presents a systematic review of the existing literature on the university-business link and its impact on the production of scientific knowledge. The PRISMA 2020 methodology was used, which made it possible to identify, select and rigorously analyze relevant studies published in various academic sources between 2019 and 2024, with the aim of identifying trends, patterns and common results in research on this topic. The findings show that university-business linkage has a significant impact on the production of scientific knowledge by increasing the relevance and applicability of research, stimulating technological innovation, providing additional financial and technological resources, and facilitating the transfer of knowledge and technologies between both sectors. Challenges are identified, such as the risk of bias in research, loss of academic independence, displacement of basic research and conflicts of interest. Key areas for future research are highlighted, including the need for longitudinal and comparative studies that evaluate the long-term impact of university-business linkages on the quality and direction of scientific research.
