SIMULATION LEARNING MODEL: ITS APPLICATION IN THE TRAINING OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

An adequate training of health professionals should necessarily be in agreement with the current era, a period demanding new competencies associated with knowing to be, knowing to do and knowing to know. The proposal of pedagogical models adapted to these new demands of the teaching-learning process is absolutely necessary because it allows to redirect the educational efforts towards these new tendencies, innovating and evolving in consonance with the scientific-technological development. The purpose of this article is to describe the pedagogical model concerning to Clinical Simulation and to highlight its relevance for the training of health professionals in the 21st century. This article also describes the fundamental principles of Clinical Simulation, the experience of a Chilean private university about this teaching strategy and its current implementation, as well as the future possibilities of Simulation-Based Clinical Teaching and Learning.
