Abstract

Intercultural education and its influence on contemporary higher education is key in the solution of the conflicts that occur in society nowadays. One of the aims of Intercultural Education focuses on the development of Intercultural Competence of students and teachers who participate in the teaching-learning process. There are convergent elements focused on three fundamental dimensions within this competence: knowledge, skills and attitudes. These three elements constitute a fundamental premise for the development of any type of competence and specifically for the development of intercultural competence. However, within this systemic relationship that occurs between them, the element less openly discussed and consequently analyzed in previous research on intercultural competence has precisely been that of skills, its importance in shaping intercultural competence has been precisely analyzed as a great priority within this investigation, being the fundamental objective of it.
