Government programs in Mexico focus on technology coverage and access to it, but do not evaluate the benefits obtained by those who use it or how it is reflected in the educational, economic sector, neither in the performance of the user. This study aims at evaluating the use students of the High Tech Institute of Champotón (ITESCHAM) in the state of Campeche, Mexico give to the information and telecommunication infrastructure of the Technological Institute and the level of integration of Communication and Information Technologies that the school reflects. To this end, a sample of 225 students from different careers was questioned, concluding that the lack of access to technology certifications due to economic issues and the language barrier are important conditions for both teachers and students to learn in a self-taught form to use technology. They feel more comfortable using technology at a utilitarian level rather than as a means of enhancing their capabilities.
