This article presents a study that explores the impact of using videos as a teaching strategy in teaching reading comprehension in English. Using a quantitative and correlational approach, the study involved two groups of secondary school students. The experimental group (Group A) participated in contextualized comprehension activities using videos, while the control group (Group B) read without audiovisual material. The study employed a quasi-experimental design, with a sample of 14 students divided into two groups of seven, and used a fourteen-question written test to assess reading comprehension. The results indicate that the use of videos significantly contributed to improving reading comprehension in English, showing that this strategy not only motivates students but also facilitates more meaningful learning. This innovative approach is especially relevant in educational contexts with limited resources, as it provides effective tools to enrich the teaching-learning process and improve students' communication skills in English.
