Abstract

Mexico is a mega-diverse country because of its great biodiversity. This is included in many strategies of conservation and is served in various ways. On a smaller scale, the State of Campeche is considered as a "Green State" because it protects at least around 40% of its surface. The foregoing leads academic institutions such as the Autonomous University of Campeche, to implement mechanisms in order to be in tune with sustainable development, promoting environmental care and conservation, not as an specific content of learning units, but as a transverse axis. Thus, at this University, biologists are trained to teach and educate others to protect and respect the natural resources and so minimize the ongoing abuse of biodiversity, in favor of the balance between man and nature, ensuring that the necessary human activities for social development give priority to the rational management of existing natural resources.
