A CRITICAL LOOK TO THE DOCTORAL THESES IN PEDAGOGIC SCIENCES IN A REGION OF CUBA

Abstract

To improve  the doctoral theses defend in the National Tribunal of Scientific Degrees in Sciences of the Education, located at Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” de las Villas, constitutes a challenge for the corresponding formation programs. That is why  these article presents the results of a research carried out  in order to contribute fulfill this aspiration. A critical study conducted systematizes the main present difficulties in a sample of 75 PhD theses; out of the 163 defended in the years 2017, 2018, 2019, it represents 46% of the total of carried out defenses. The   95% opponents’ reports were also checked. The dimensions and indicators stablished for the study revealed some difficulties such as:  the ambiguity of the theoretical lack; the consistency of the contributions to the theory, insufficient level of international visibility of the thesis main results. This  critical look offers a new perspective that can be useful  for PhD students and  their tutors in order to improve the researchers´ formation process.
