Abstract

The article deals with the social needs that demands changes in the teaching- learning process in educational institutions. In order to achieve this goal its required to go beyond the traditional patterns of transmission-reception and meet the current demands of society focused on mastering skills and transferable skills, as a basic strategy to promote the goal of learning to learn and achieve learning throughout life. The objectives are aimed towards the new perspectives of learning. The references related to transformations and methodology corresponds to a  documentary analysis and systematization of experiences. As a result, a new approach on the theoretical is offered. It emphasizes on changes, such as: the conceptions about learning to new challenges, the influence of personological factors and the meta-cognitive characteristics in active involvement, reflective and conscious of the students in their own process, as well as self-regulation. Also, learning strategies are presented as a key factor in strategic learning, considered as a process of making conscious and deliberate decisions to achieve the learning objective.
